Position Title: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Technician – Day Shift

Shift Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Availability: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities

Position Description:
SYTE Corp is looking for a meticulous and safety-driven Leak Survey Technician to support our natural gas operations in Hammond, Indiana. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing leak detection surveys on pipelines and related infrastructure to ensure regulatory compliance and safeguard public safety. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our systems and preventing potential gas leaks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct walking and mobile surveys using handheld and vehicle-mounted detection equipment (e.g., CGI, GMI).
  • Detect, classify, and document above-ground gas leaks per SYTE Corp and DOT standards.
  • Use PCAD and Emergency Job Code 61 protocols to assess and report leak severity.
  • Interpret maps, prints, and historical data to locate leak sources.
  • Communicate with dispatch, field supervisors, and emergency response teams.
  • Remain on-site during emergency leak calls until qualified personnel arrive.
  • Participate in emergency drills and real-time leak investigations.
  • Perform additional seasonal tasks assigned to support operational continuity.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Must successfully pass DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Experience in methane leak detection preferred.
  • Ability to walk long distances and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret detection readings.
  • Familiarity with natural gas infrastructure and leak classification criteria.
  • Willingness to complete SYTE Corp’s cross-training and qualification program.


Training & Development:

  • Structured cross-training for walking and mobile detection roles.
  • Certification in leak detection, emergency dispatch protocols, and CGI usage.
