Job Overview The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Epidemiologist in the Disease Surveillance & Control Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to four (4) months.
This position is funded by a grant and the continuation of the position depends on the availability of grant funds and the business requirements of SNHD. If the funding is discontinued or becomes unavailable, your employment may be terminated without the right to appeal.
Responsible for conducting disease surveillance, evaluating public health data including unusual occurrences of health conditions, and recommending disease control measures; functions within a multidisciplinary outbreak investigation and response team to provide epidemiologic information to the medical community and general public.

Minimum Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience: - Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course study in epidemiology or public health and one (1) year of professional experience in epidemiology, epidemiologic research, or public health disease investigation.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid Nevada Driver License, or ability to obtain, with ninety (90) days of employment.
Preferred Qualification:
- SAS, R, or Python experience preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in communicable disease surveillance preferred.
