Job Description

The Director of Medicaid and Marketplace Strategy leads a team of Client Strategists to support health plan clients in achieving quality and regulatory goals, collaborating with various internal teams and focusing on regulatory requirements and market opportunities.

This role collaborates closely with market strategy and solutions directors, health plan account teams, and other cross-functional partners to advance clients’ strategic and regulatory objectives. Success in this position requires a thorough understanding and assessment of both proposed and existing regulatory requirements in relevant markets. Additionally, the Director will represent, influence, and guide the development of a roadmap that enables Express Scripts to differentiate itself, while ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Ability to assess the market and identify key opportunities to improve and enhance the support model will be essential to overall client satisfaction and retention.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain pharmacy metrics at or above industry average.
  • Partner with account teams to retain health plan clients.
  • Collaborate with product development to provide client insights and upsell new market-specific products.
  • Review and assess regulatory impacts, support drafting communications.
  • Provide strategic direction for cohesive client engagement.
  • Work with Health Plan division Directors on growth, quality, and product initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of coaching and high performance.
  • Develop selling strategies to differentiate Express Scripts and align with client interests.
  • Guide market messaging and training for account teams and clients.
  • Demonstrate leadership to motivate and develop team members.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years professional experience with BS degree, 5+ years with Masters.
  • Detailed knowledge and expertise of the regulated markets with an emphasis on Medicaid, Marketplace, and the PBM industry.
  • Previous experience leading a high-performance team
  • Previous experience managing client relationships and/or product sales required
  • Previous experience reading and interpreting regulations or contracts strongly desired
  • Strong in product/program analysis, communication and execution
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Client centric / customer focused
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior members of client organization
  • Demonstrate the ability to negotiate cross functionally to drive client issues to resolution
  • Ability to manage work strategically, effectively anticipating/planning for client impact of internal and external influencers.
  • Ability to convey difficult messages to clients and internal teams in a positive manner and/or to handle escalated issues with confidence and in a calm manner
  • Up to 40% travel required.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 161,400 - 269,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
